Heart Tracker employs the advanced technology of "LiveWare", which is a basic software platform (set of software components) that allows for continuous monitoring and measuring of live physiological signals like heart rate. Heart rate and particularly heart rate variability (HRV) are important measures as they open a window into the status of the human organism. Analysis of heart rate variability (HRVA) provides information about cardiovascular diseases, stress, and mental illnesses such as major depression, panic disorder, and mental fatigue. Heart Tracker is non-evasive, intuitive, and easy to use software and hardware system that monitors and measures HRV. Heart Tracker was designed by medical doctors and uses a sophisticated algorithm that is in accordance with world HRVA standards. One of Heart Trackers many advantages is its ability to help an individual to achieve a more relaxed and balanced state by following the specific breathing patterns of the breath pacemaker. The system is designed to implement a feedback entrainment loop to assist the person in balancing their autonomic system. Heart Tracker begins to measure and monitor a persons stress level immediately after touching their finger to a small 1" by 2" pad. Heart Tracker allows a person to have immediate physiological insight into their current stress levels and provides the tools to ameliorate the debilitating effects of chronic and acute stress. Health care and other professionals can use the system to set baselines, employ effective breathing and other therapeutic techniques, and evaluate effectiveness of treatment in real time, and over the course of time. All findings can be reported in clear and concise professional reports built into the system. Heart Tracker includes a respiration pacer as a therapeutic aide to assist an individual in developing and maintaining breathing patterns leading to autonomic stability or homeostasis. When an individual is breathing evenly or a bit deeper than normal (the tidal volume is higher than normal more than 500 ml) with an average breath rate of less than 12 breaths per minute (bpm), it will create a positive effect. This is called the respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) or natural physiological oscillations in one's heart rhythm. The more deep and even the breathing, the more significant rhythm is reflected in RSA pattern. It is well documented that deep and even breathing allows an individual to achieve a deep relaxation state. Heart Tracker facilitates monitoring and evaluation of RSA pattern. The Heart Tracker breath pacer is displayed in the form of moving vertical bar. It gives an appropriate breath rhythm. The user should simply be adjusted to some comfortable breathing volume to avoid the effect of hyperventilation. At the same time Heart Tracker automatically acquires and displays the user's heart rate signal. The RSA evaluation parameters are immediately calculated and displayed online. The screen displays an amplitude of RSA wave (training score) and its stability by means of special algorithm involving spectral analysis of the interbeat intervals. These two parameters are used as quantitative measures of an individuals achievement of the training goals. In many ways the relaxation process can be better represented not by the absolute values but their dynamics or changes during the training session. Thus, the screen setup is designed as a simple training protocol. The breath trainer consists of short-term baseline recording (30 seconds to 5 minutes), and a training phase. The breath pacer is not used during baseline recording. The baseline score will be automatically used as an online comparison value instead of implementing a cumbersome threshold mechanism. This will reflect an accurate readout of the individual's dynamics. These automatic parameters eliminate the need to adjust the threshold based on one's intuition, since such threshold will be always adjusted to an individual and their current condition and targeted to improve the current state the individual is in. Heart Tracker is designed for ease of use. Intuitive screens allow the user ease of interpretation. Although the dynamics of the software evaluation is extremely sophisticated the user can interpret their physiological state and intuitively enhance their performance and stabilize their physiology.
