Silica Gel Odorless, non-toxic, and non-corrosive, with
stable chemical and thermal characteristics, silica gel
is the most commonly used desiccant, and is regarded as
the highest humid adsorbent in desiccant community. With
active, interconnected pores forming a vast surface
area, silica gel is the most capable desiccant for
dehumidification. Silica gel can adsorb moisture 40% or
up of its weight at 100% humidity environment.

SGCxx Silica Gel,
macroporous,
density: 0.4-0.5 g/ml and porosity:
> 7.2 ml/g, heavy-duty moisture adsorbent, even at
high humidity, with typical application as follows:
- insulation oil recycling: quickly remove organic
acid, water and color agent; recover pH to neutral;
regenerate the oil electric properties.
- lubrication oil regeneration.
- catalyst in petroleum cracking.
- remove high protein in fermented products.
SGFxx Silica
Gel, microporous,
density: >0.6 g/ml
and porosity: > 3.2-5.0 ml/g, widely used moisture
adsorbent for different application, with typical
application as follows:
- removes moisture before proceeding air separation.
- serves as separating agent in fine separation of
petroleum chemicals.
- removes moisture in oxgen, or acetylene in liquid
oxygen during steel smelting.
- serves as catalyst.
SGIxx Silica Gel, blue gel,
with properties and applications similar to SGCxx, and
color changes with moisture it adsorbed (appears in
blue, light
blue, pink and red in sequence when humidity
increases). Used with other gels for best moisture
adsorbing application. |

Silica gel is manufactured by chemical reaction
of sodium silicate and sulphuric acid, and through
purification and different treatment.

A desiccant unit is the amount of desiccant
used to adsorb 3 grams of water vapor at 20%
relative humidity, or 6 grams at 40% relative
humidity.
A unit is 28 grams for silica gel, 33 grams for
calcium gel, and 28 grams for molecular sieve.
Needs of desiccant in most applications are
between 1/6 unit and 16 units.

General Notes:
- Available in both semi-transparent, crystal like blue and crystal like clear.
Blue gel changes color with humidity. It is
often used as humidity indicator as well.
- Other bead size available at custom's specification, or in lump
granule.
- Regenerated when baked at 300-340oF for 3-4 hours.
- Offered in 25 kg bag or 55 gal drum (130-150 kg, air sealed) and
container load (13-15 tons).
- Small packages in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50
grams are available.
- Packaging material: polyethylene composite paper and adhesive-bonded
cloths.
- Silica gel and Tyvek bag (heat sealed) are F.D.A. approved.
- Best used in closed/sealed moisture barrier or container.
Bag Sizing:
- Vitamins, pharmaceuticals and foods: 0.25 - 3.0 gram silica gel or
calcium gel. Calcium gel is not F.D.A. approved.
- Medical/surgical instrument: 0.25 - 1.0 gram silica gel or molecular
sieve.
- Electronics, circuit board and semiconductor: 1.5 - 3.0 gram silica
gel or molecular sieve.
- Opticals or sensor heads: 10 gram or more silica gel or molecular
sieve.
Special Application from
Clients:
- Fine gel used as food tracer for diet monitoring and research. Crush
strength of the gel is a key factor.
- Cat or pet litter material, to eliminate odor and to adsorb liquid
waste.
