Experts recommend routine calibration checks of all spirometers at the location in which it is used to ensure the accuracy of all test results. The current ATS recommendations are for a minimum of daily calibration using a calibration syringe of no less than 3 liters volume. OSHA and Social Security also require regular calibration and documentation.
