Z SCORE DLL Instantaneous Z Scores
Scientific Real-Time Neurofeedback Training
Breakthrough in neurofeedback Training - Applied Neuroscience, Inc. developed a “Dynamic Link Library” or dll based on the statistics of NeuroGuide for approved industry developers to use in their products. Z Scores provide an instantaneous measure of how the trainee's eeg compares with a normal population. Scores are based upon the EEG signal, the sensor locations, the age of the trainee, and whether eyes are open or closed. The dll provides real-time normative database comparisons for absolute power, power ratios, relative power, coherence, phase delays and amplitude differences. An example of a potential use of instantaneous statistical analyses of the EEG is in EEG Biofeedback where the moment-to-moment comparison to a reference normal group of subjects is computed in real-time. The idea is to use Z scores as a threshold and to reinforce Z = 0, or Z = + or - 1, or whatever Z score depending on the judgment of the qualified biofeedback specialist. The use of Z scores for biofeedback reduces the complexity of biofeedback of voltages and ratios and coherence, etc. to a single metric, the metric of a Z score (i.e., Z = (mean-subject)/ st. dev). No longer wonder if coherence should increase or decrease, or phase delay should shorten or lengthen, or absolute power should increase or decrease, for a given scalp location or a given age.
The Z Score provides, in real time, a total of 72 real-time values for 2 channels and 248 real-time values for 4 channels computed on a continuous basis. These calculations are performed more than 30 times per second and provide data useful for training as well as assessing the current condition of the trainee, via their normative EEG scores on any of the 72 or 248 components. Live Z Score training will assess selected 10/20 sites , instantaneously create the appropriate protocol, and train those sites LIVE.

NEW! BrainMaster Multi Media Player (533-401)
The BrainMaster Multimedia Player software is an optional add-on system that provides advanced animations and sounds for neurofeedback training.
This opens the additional AVI animations, providing a choice of breathtaking landscapes, playful cartoons, and other interesting animations integrated with BrainMaster 3.5 software. The BrainMaster Multimedia Player software is integrated into the BrainMaster 3.5 software, and allows full DVD feedback capabilities (a DVD player is required). It can play animation files (avi, mpg, mpeg, or wmv format), and will automatically adjust the animation to suit whatever protocol is being used. The system automatically detects your protocol settings, and makes the selected animation run faster or slower, depending on the training results. Up to 10 frames per second can be shown, with moment-by-moment control of the feedback display. In addition, any sounds built into the animation will also be played, and will also stop and start along with the animation, for a full audio and visual effect.
Dozens of animations are included with the basic MMP software, and you can add your own at any time. There are many sources of animations, both licensed and as freeware, to choose from. Any files can be simply copied into the MMP directory on your PC, and will be immediately usable by the MMP software.
In addition, the MMP player can play sound files and CD’s, using a unique “amplitude modulated” method. Sound files (wav, mp3, mp4, or midi) can be selected and played, regardless of the animation files being used. The system can also be used for sound-only feedback, using saved sound files. The MMP player can also play CD’s directly. Just insert a CD, select the track(s), and the MMP player will provide EEG-controlled sound feedback.
The MMP player provides separate controls for the built-in sounds in your animation files, and for the separate files or CD’s that you use. This operates in addition to the standard sounds produced by the BrainMaster software. Thus, you can thus have very complex and engaging sounds, creating layers of feedback for your trainees.
If you want to view animations that are on DVD’s, you can do so immediately if the DVD is in mpeg or a similar format. In addition, regardless of the DVD format, you can convert the DVD to a common file format, such as mpg, by using common DVD “ripper” software. An example program is included with the MMP software, and will convert up to 5 minutes of DVD material for your use. It is simple and legal to convert your DVD material for your own use.
Compatibility: Windows XP, Win 7 required. BrainMaster MMP requires you to have Microsoft Direct X 9.0c installed on your PC (A DX9.0c installation file is included with the MMP software). MMP is compatible with Gforce and similar sound-driven graphics extension programs, as explained in the MMP manual.

This software interfaces with the BrainMaster system and provides EEG-controlled photic stimulation when used with various photic devices. This software provides a high level of EEG-controlled light stimulation. It allows you to select the frequency of the stimulation (1 to 20 flashes per second) and to set up the EEG parameters that control the stimulation.
This opens the door to powerful non-volitional techniques that guide the brain quickly into desired states. Provides functions similar to systems costing many times more. The StimFlash software allows you to define a separate protocol for the photic stimulation that operates independently, or in coordination with the EEG training protocol that is being used. The Brainmaster is a low-cost, flexible, general-purpose brainwave monitor. It connects to a PC in the same way that a modem does; but instead of communicating over the telephone network, it monitors brainwaves. It is immediately useful for applications in research, education, recreation, hobby, self-awareness, art, performance, brainwave-controlled systems, and virtual reality.
