Comprehension



Comprehension means understanding what you read or hear. Understanding is based on the words you read or hear and the mental images awakened by those words. Mental images help you organize thoughts into concepts and affect all higher level learning strategies.  When someone reads aloud poorly it can be clearly observed by teachers and parents. Unfortunately, there is nothing to see or hear when an individual has problems creating the mental images that enable them to keep up with the speed of reading or listening. Solid comprehension is a life skill necessary for personal and professional growth.
