Comprehension
Comprehension means understanding what you read or
hear. Understanding is based on the words you read or hear and
the mental images awakened by those words. Mental images help
you organize thoughts into concepts and affect all higher
level learning strategies. When someone reads aloud
poorly it can be clearly observed by teachers and parents.
Unfortunately, there is nothing to see or hear when an
individual has problems creating the mental images that enable
them to keep up with the speed of reading or listening. Solid
comprehension is a life skill necessary for personal and
professional growth.
The
Learning Breakthrough Program™ weaves cognitive acquisition processes together into a
cohesive, fun, and entertaining program that users actually
enjoy. Research by the National Institute of Child Health and
Human Development on how children learn to read indicates that
the most effective classroom method for early reading
instruction involves a combination of explicit instruction in
word recognition skills and reading comprehension strategies
with opportunities to apply and practice these skills in
literature.
Unlike these higher
level content and lesson strategies, the Learning Breakthrough
Program™ improves root level brain processing
efficiency in order to strengthen comprehension and retention
capabilities on a bio-physiology dimension developing a
platform on which all educational approaches can
benefit.
Word recognition skills, phonic awareness,
vocabulary acquisition and memory functions are all part of
the benefits that can be expected to result from Learning
Breakthrough Program™ use. In addition to being
useful in their own right, these functions all have a critical
effect on learning comprehension.
Reading
comprehension problems are commonly associated with the
academic struggles of children and adolescents. However,
thousands of adults struggle daily to complete
college/university studies or to support themselves and their
families while dealing with comprehension difficulty.
Comprehension problems in adults can range from mild to
severe. Difficulty with comprehension interferes with keeping
up professionally, limiting how much an individual can
understand and remember from company training sessions,
workshops and seminars. Adults with comprehension problems
struggle to understand and remember oral directions, memos,
policies and procedures. Instructions or directions to
complete complex projects or assignments become difficult to
grasp.
Adults and college students spend huge amounts
of time reading and re-reading the same material over and over
just to get the gist of an idea, while often watching
colleagues and classmates study the same material in a
fraction of the time. The Learning Breakthrough Program™ is particularly valuable
learning aid for adults exactly because of how it helps
clients adjust to the above challenges. The program
improves an individual's ability to perform mental imaging
tasks more efficiently in order to apply the information they
read to more meaningful ends.
If you feel frustrated because you're
not getting enough out of the work you do, you have a lot of
company. Many parents and teachers begin to feel that somehow
it is their fault that a child (or adult) is not understanding
and remembering. This frustration can put undue pressure on
the learning process and contribute to the lowering of self
esteem. The Learning Breakthrough Program™ offers real assistance. We hope
you will give it a
try.
